I was born in Perth Australia, one of the most isolated cities in the world. My family moved across the desert settling in Melbourne where I studied art. On completing my Bachelor of Fine Art I started to exhibit.
Gradually I took an interest in the moving image and specialized in creating and animating special effects. I moved into Art Direction and this led me to relocate to London in 2001. Here I worked for large film studios and production houses on movies such as Harry Potter and Batman Begins. Primarily as a Technical Director my film bio is here. I enjoy this huge imaginary world where anything is possible and the production is grand.
I have exhibited in Australia, The United Kingdom, Europe. And USA. I still live in London where I have my studio. Now I spend as much time as I can Painting and Drawing. My influences are broad from Hans Memling, Joseph Cornell, Durer, Frida Kahlo, Walton Ford and James Gleeson.
I am a member of The Society for Art of Imagination and South London Women Artists.

Artist Statement

My current body of work focuses on attachments. How we connect or disconnect to our environments natural or man made as well as the places, objects, memories, ideals and people we hold dear. I use devices such as veins, cords, threads, roots, wires, receptacles and enlarge hearts to illustrate these attachments.
Usually my images start as drawings compulsively and energetically worked on until my idea is fully formed. Most of my paintings are versions of these drawings. They are a slower, more detailed, deliberate, and a coloured working of the original idea. When I start a painting I use egg tempera to draw in the under painting layers. This lets me refine my line work and details before I start the oil colour glazes.
I make my own wood panels and a traditional gesso for priming (following a centuries old recipe). This is by far my favourite painting surface, it is smooth and allows my paint, tempera and ideas to flow as I work.
