In the Grip

“In the Grip”

Oil on canvas

60 x 40 cm
2014

I have been focusing on why we create cities, the buildings, roads, modern materials and vehicles. Why do we choose to live in these spaces? We embed ourselves inside of our creations, live in them, yet endlessly yearn to be reconnected with nature.

In this painting I explore the constraints of development on us, our nature and spirit. How it binds us and the creatures we share this world with.

Asleep in the city

One of the paintings from my "While we are asleep". The city brings us dreams, moments of hope, clarity, frenzy and desire. It is important to take time out and rest and reflect. More about the series here.
