I create symbolic paintings focusing on a central figure, most often depicted during a moment of self-realisation or deep in contemplation. Frequently they are caught in the conflict between city life and a yearning for nature.

The interaction between human beings and the natural environment highlights the negative impact of manipulating the planet with the building of cities that follow the path of a disposable, unsustainable lifestyle.

Hidden deep below the smooth, glassy surface of my paintings are a glimpse at the germination of my ideas - revealed through the faint traces of linework and the energetic brushstrokes of the underpaintings.
